This belief goes back to 1945, when George and Dorothy Welbourne founded Geo E Welbourne Co, Inc., an electrical services company, where the present day L’Enfant Plaza is located in the heart of Washington D. C. They saw the need for a service-oriented company that could promise high-quality electrical services at a fair and competitive price. From the start, customers could see and sense the Welbourne difference – a dedication to customer service and value. The company grew and prospered with the area, and many of our customers today were among the first serviced by Welbourne in 1945 including parking concerns that we have serviced for over 77 years.
Jeff Welbourne, the company’s current President, grew up in his family’s business. In fact, his folks were fond of saying that he learned how to walk and talk on the job! Throughout his youth, Jeff spent much of his free time working with crews and stocking Welbourne service trucks. In 1983, Jeff succeeded his father as President of Geo E Welbourne Co Inc., and its trade name, Welbourne Electrical Services.
In 1989, Carole Welbourne Young, Jeff’s sister, joined the company as corporate secretary and office manager. Carole’s background in sales and client management is extensive. Through her efforts, the company expanded its client base and offerings to include Big Box stores and provision of 24/7 services.
1998 saw the addition of Tom Gragan, Welbourne’s Director of Operations. Tom oversees all field operations and began his tenure at Welbourne as an electrician and quickly advanced to Foreman, and subsequently, Project Manager. Tom’s wealth of knowledge gained during his thirty years as an electrician ranges from commercial-residential maintenance and construction, parking, food production and hospital chief electrician.
Both Jeff Welbourne and Tom Gragan are licensed Master Electricians.
